Here we answer the most common questions.
Products and cuts
What are fresh-cut vegetables?
Fresh-cut vegetables – also called pre-cut or prepared vegetables – are fresh vegetables or salad that are washed, peeled where necessary and cut ready for the kitchen. The produce stays raw: it is neither cooked nor frozen and must therefore be kept chilled at all times. For large kitchens, this removes the need for trimming and cutting on site. Convenience GmbH supplies fresh-cut vegetables to customer specification to food service and large-scale caterers throughout Germany.
Which vegetables does Convenience GmbH supply cut?
The standard range includes tricolour pepper strips, julienne carrots, red and white cabbage strips, red onion rings, sliced mushrooms, chopped parsley and cut romaine lettuce, as well as salad mixes, wok and soup mixes. In addition, we source and process almost any vegetable to your specification – we agree the variety, cut size, quantity and packaging with you.
Which cut sizes and pack sizes are available?
The cut, cut size and thickness follow your specification – for example dice, strips, julienne, slices, rings or chopped, with white cabbage cut to a width of 2 mm, for instance. The standard pack size is 0.5 to 3 kg, 0.5 to 1 kg for herbs such as chopped parsley and 100 to 500 g for sprouts. Other pack sizes are available on request.
How long do fresh-cut vegetables keep?
Fresh-cut vegetables are an ultra-fresh product and only keep when chilled continuously. The exact shelf life depends on the variety, cut and packaging and is stated for every product in the product specification you receive with our quote. As a rule, fresh-cut vegetables keep for around 5 days at a storage temperature of 2 to 7 °C. Because we deliver next-day and up to five times a week, you can order smaller quantities more often – and therefore fresher.
Quality and certification
Which certifications does Convenience GmbH hold?
Convenience GmbH is certified to IFS Broker version 3.2 – with 97.4 % at higher level, valid until 21 December 2026. The scope covers trading in fresh, ultra-fresh and frozen convenience products as well as fresh fruit and vegetables. In addition, the company holds organic certification DE-ÖKO-001, valid until 31 January 2028. All certificates are available as PDFs on our certifications page; the HACCP concept is available on request.
Can I have products made under my own brand?
Yes. For corporate clients, Convenience GmbH develops fresh-cut and convenience products under your own brand. Recipe, cut size, packaging and logistics come from a single source; the goods are delivered EDI-enabled directly to your central warehouse. For private label enquiries, we send you a structured briefing document with which we define your requirements together. Read more under private label.
Delivery and ordering
Where does Convenience GmbH deliver and how often?
Convenience GmbH delivers nationwide to all 16 German federal states – next-day and up to five times a week. We supply central warehouses as well as individual sites such as restaurants or canteens; we organise the last mile through a network of qualified logistics partners, including route planning and cold-chain compliant delivery. In the event of a delivery failure or short-notice additional demand, our emergency service is available outside office hours too.
Is EDI integration possible?
Yes. We connect your ERP system via EDI so that orders reach us directly and without manual entry. Alternatively or additionally, we accept orders by phone, email, portal, WhatsApp or fax. System integration is part of onboarding; a dedicated key account manager supports the setup and remains your contact afterwards.
Is there a minimum order quantity?
Yes. There are minimum order quantities, but they depend on the delivery site and are therefore agreed with you individually. We align order quantities with your demand and delivery schedule in the quote. You can order crate produce, sprouts and herbs together with fresh-cut products in a single order – with one contact and one invoice.
Quotes and costs
How quickly can I get a quote or samples?
We respond to enquiries within 24 hours – with product specification, terms sheet and the relevant certificates. Samples are available on request. Simply describe the products, cut sizes, quantities and delivery sites via the enquiry form or by phone on +49 511 5151 0440. Private label projects start with a structured briefing document. You will receive samples of existing products within 5 working days; for new products we agree the timeframe individually.
Are fresh-cut vegetables cheaper than cutting your own?
That depends on the individual case, but a simple price-per-kilo comparison falls short. With fresh-cut vegetables, you save the working time for trimming, peeling and cutting, the peelings and their disposal, as well as cutting equipment and preparation space. You only pay for usable produce, get consistent cut quality and can calculate portions and recipes precisely. We are happy to compare your current in-house preparation with a specific quote.
